Cenex gas stations power the communities they serve. Using slice-of-life moments, we’ve highlighted how their stations are an engine for local connection through the Powered Locally campaign for the past 6 years.

The Hometown Throwdown

No one knows hometowns like Cenex. And every hometown has a festival. Cenex sought to source and crown the best of the hometown fest. We called for towns to submit their favorite local celebrations and traditions. After narrowing down to the top 3, we handed the keys over to the public and asked for them to vote. The winning festival ended up receiving $100k.

In 2019, we updated the Powered Locally campaign with a fresh round of TV that highlighted the oddly charming interactions that can only happen at Cenex.

Super Bowl LII in 2018 was in Cenex country. To take advantage of its Minneapolis location and highlight the brand’s local bonafide’s, we put a spotlight on a Cenex location home to the original Super Bull - Albert, the world’s largest bull statue.

Our agency’s brilliant swiss army knife content creator, Carl Martin, and I hung around Audubon for a couple days interviewing locals about Albert the Bull, turning it into a short documentary.
